Ryan Gets Pampered All Weekend. Dr. Rodriguez Says Ryan is Healthy.

By the photo below, one can clearly see Ryan was getting plenty of attention this weekend.

Sue and Ryan after Therapy

Sue was sending me pictures all weekend. Ryan & her on the mat. Ryan and her on the couch. Ryan and her in the kitchen. I was great and kept me really connected while I was away from home.

I left WVU late in the afternoon yesterday. Kari and I stuffed ourselves at the Boston Beanery then headed over to the supermarket to pick up a few snacks. $173 later, she was satisfied that she had enough. We took the bags up to her dorm room and her room was a debris field. Just like her room was at home.

Kari and I use to butt heads on a daily basis about her room at home. Sometime around the 8th grade, I could see it was just her being to be cluttered. She thinks out of a different side of her brain than the rest of the family. She places little importance on time and organization. She hates math. Her creativity and interpersonal skills are what’s important to her. I’ve come to love this about her. It also let me see how high school education really short changes those who few who are like Kari.

Dr. Rodriguez stopped by on Sunday, family in tow, to give Ryan a head-to-toe exam. He feels Ryan is in great physical shape. That was wonderful to hear. He is such a kind and caring man who is gifted with intelligence. We are fortunate to have him in our life.

My prayers continue for Ryan’s recovery. I have a community of Benedictine Monks also praying for Ryan’s recovery.

I enjoy reading the post and supportive comments on Facebook, but I love this blog. This is just you and it’s so personal. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

I’m so glad you had a good trip to Morgantown. It sounds like it was just what the doctor ordered. Speaking of whom, I totally agree with you. Dr. Rodriquez is a peach of a caring man who happens to be a great physician.

I hope you have a good & peaceful day.

So happy you are back home safe and sound, and that your visit with Kari was good. About those snacks: college students gain an average of 20 lbs their first semester! LOL Just kidding, Kari, because I am sure they are all healthy snacks. 😉 Hmmm… …did you ever notice I talk about food and cooking alot? It’s because I’m from the south where fried chicken, potatoe salad and banana pudding are king! More LOL. Have a good day all. Still here 🙂

  4. Jo Hobbs says:

Yes, yes, yes, students — it’s “potato.” If anyone ever takes their red pencil to my comments, Lord help us!

Hello Ken, I am so happy your trip to WVA went well and that you and Kari had such a good time together!! Laughter is good for the soul, is it not? About Kari’s room — lol — let me just say that I know many who could care less about order in their rooms — and yes, they are often very creative people who have other more important things on their minds : ) I had to laugh about the $173 on snacks, lol, I totally understand. They have us wrapped around their little fingers. It’s called love, and though the experience can be fraught with frustration and downright heartache, deep joy is there too, and a connection that is different from all others. Welcome home, Ken, and I pray you and your family have a great week. I love the picture of Ryan and Sue, thank you for posting all these pictures, keep them coming!

Dr. Rodriguez, if you are reading this blog, here is a bouquet of admiration and gratitude for all that you do for the Divineys. It will not be forgotten. Thank you!!

Ken, So happy you had a fun time with Kari! Remember well buying the $150-200 worth of “snacks” for my kids. Lizzie ate a bowl of cereal every night before bed and needed that with her other yogurt, apples, clementines, etc. Jonny needed dorritos and chewy bars and any thing he could eat watching a game. His fruit was clementines and limes. I think the limes were also for during the games…
I am happy for Sue that she could have alone time with Ryan. That mother and son bond is so special when its there. Also, she might see something you take for granted everyday in a different way.
To quote your own words Ken, “He is such a kind and caring man who is gifted with intelligence. We are fortunate to have him in our life.”. These words also apply to yourself and Sue. You are both kind and caring parents, gifted with intelligence. Ryan and Kari are fortunate to have you in their lives. Here’s to a GREAT week for the Diviney family!

I wonder if you realize, how funny Dr. Rodriguez would find your comment. If he is like Buck, his interaction with Ryan makes a bigger difference in HIS life than he does in yours. It is the rare patient/family like Ryan that gets them back to the roots of the dream they had of being a Dr. I know Buck has had some patients in his life that make the hard days make sense and ground them.

  10. Rita says:

It sounds like you are really counting your blessings and have a whole new appreciation for your kids’ unique qualities these day 🙂 Oh, and I love-love-love this picture of Sue with Ryan ❤ Post one of you and Kari together on campus?

Two thoughts were consistent when reading your post, Ken. Am I the ony one that thinks Sue looks young enough to be dating a 20 year old, just a thought. I too used to have ongoing battles with my Morgan about her “cyclone” of a room. I finally gave up. She has always been the kindest most social person I know. If a messy room was her biggest faault, we were in good shape. As soon as she moved out on her own amazingly her room and home became miraculous. She remains, caring, loving and kind, now with a dose of clean thrown in. I am a lucky mom!

You guys are Blessed to have such a Great Dr and I know that you all are!
